A Simply Effective Way To Combat ACNE

The Agera Peeling System

The Agera Peeling Treatment is a progressive - non aggressive treatment which will gently relieve the skin of surface blockages (surplus skin cells) as well as dissolve sebum plugs from sebaceous pores. Remember: Dead skin and P Acne Bacteria is to blame for Acne - Not Sebum!!

By stimulating and healing the skin’s own natural ability to regenerate and the removal of dead skin cells, problems such as blemishes and acne are more easily overcome.

The main components of this treatment comprise:
  • Application of Peel Serum
  • Hydration
  • Microderm Abrasion (Optional)
  • Daily Skin Care with Agera
Your Course of Treatments:
  • 8 - 12 per course (to be decided at initial consultation)
  • Sessions are 30 - 60 minutes long
Your First Session:
  • A profile of your existing health & skin care routine will be taken.
  • You will complete a medical questionnaire.
  • A diagram detailing areas of specific concern on your face will be made up for reference during treatment
  • A 'Before' photo will be taken
The treatment is entirely dedicated to the removal of the dead skin layer which is at the root of most skin problems.

This process achieves three objectives:
  • Prevents blockages from skin cells.
  • Enables the recommended products to penetrate into the deep dermis.
  • Subdues P Acne bacteria.
Cost Of Treatment:
Single Session£64.00
8 Sessions£480.00
Beginner Session£37.00

Please Note: It is essential that a daily routine incorporating products which are specifically designed to combat Acne, become part of your treatment programme. Little or no result will be achieved if daily care is not taken. More information Agera on products

Understanding Acne

A = Epidermis / ‘Horny Layer’
B = Dermal papillae (rete pegs)
C = Dermis
D = Sweat gland
E = Hair Follicle & root
F = Sebaceous gland
G = Deep dermis
H = Blood vessels forming an arcade into the dermal papillae
I = Hair shaft

The Horny Layer (stratum corneum) is the top outer layer of skin. This layer is very important to the skin; it acts as the main protective layer of the skin against UV irradiation and both physical and chemical trauma. It is also part of the waterproofing barrier that keeps moisture in the skin and obstructs the penetration of bacteria.

Photo-damage and Acne cause the horny layer to build up and thicken. It can also cause the cells to develop abnormally. The natural exfoliation process slows down and one is left with a rough, thick skin. Acne and sun damaged skin can have a very thick horny layer up to 25 layers thick.

How a spot forms: Skin affected by Acne can sometimes produce excess sebum, however it is not just the amount of sebum but the consistency which causes the problem. Sebum produced with this condition is usually very sticky or glue like. P Acne Bacteria - is present in all skins – young or old- and is part of the normal fauna and flora found on any healthy skin.

However, when the surface of the skin is changed either by chemical intervention (hormones) or sun (thickening of the epidermis to protect against its rays) the bacteria will ‘migrate’ down a hair follicle or sebum gland. The inflammation caused as a result of the digestive process of the bacteria will accelerate the acne condition! In addition
  1. The outer layer of the skin becomes flaky and dry (often made worse by the use of drying agents containing alcohol or peroxide)
  2. The flakes of skin congest the surface of the skin and fall into the already over burdened sebum duct.
  3. The body’s defense mechanism produces puss to eject the skin cells. There is no exit for the puss as the skin is so congested at the surface.
  4. A large hard lump will at times be felt and will stay there for prolonged periods. Sometimes if sufficient pressure is built up under the skin, it will erupt into a surface pustule.
There are few medications which will give a satisfactory result without severe risk of side effects. The only treatment we have found effective to date is the application of Retinyl Palmitate, Beta Carotene and Retinol, which all classified as 'A' group of vitamins and which are well researched in their ability to fight 'free radical activity'.

We also incorporate products which will 'subdue' the P Acne bacteria for a period of time which will allow the skin time to 'break the cycle' into which the skin has fallen.

Vitamin A is a Free Radical Scavenger.
The principle which we have incorporated into our Acne treatments is that:
  1. Vitamin A will 'normalize the skin' by either repairing or destroying rogue cells.
  2. Regular treatment with Agera will clear the skin of unwanted dead skin cells and P Acne Bacteria reducing the amount which will cause blockages. This will also ensure that Vitamin A will be able to penetrate through the abnormally thickened ‘Horny Layer’ and rectify the Free Radical Activity.
